These are a Few of My Favorite Things

Happy Wednesday everyone!

This post is full of my favorite things..

Family

I hope you're all having a great week so far.  Our family has been having an exciting week... we finally got to tell our friends that my hubby, Ken is getting a new job.  We're so proud of him- we got all dressed up & went to watch as one of the school boards in our area voted him in as their next Superintendent.


My completely biased opinion is that he'll do a great job! 

Running

Also, my favorite 5K of the year, the Her Times 5K is coming up on October 5th.  My peeps are going to show up in matching t-shirts.  If you'd like an #IRunWild tee, you can order HERE.  They only print & ship if we get 10 orders.  Your credit card only gets charged if that 10-shirt-goal is met.

Yoga

I've been continuing to do yoga almost every day. 
(I love it despite the fact that there are no shoes involved)

 I don't know what it is about the practice, but Ruger has to be near me whenever I'm doing yoga.  
I snapped this picture to show you...

That's my front calf in triangle pose and that's Ruger inching his way onto the mat with his bone.  
(yes, I nearly fell over trying to get this picture for you. You're welcome.)

Later, when I kept shoving him off the mat, he started bringing me bones and leaving them on the mat for me.  Thanks, buddy.

Food

How about a little What I Ate Wednesday?

Today I made a smoothie. I used Vanilla Protein Powder from 1st Step Pro-Wellness, a banana, almond milk, spinach, berries & a little peanut butter.  It tasted great!

I'm telling you- throw some spinach in your smoothie if you haven't already.  You can't taste it, but you still get the nutrients.  If you don't like the green color, throw in some berries.  The whole thing will turn purple!

In April I became aware that nitrates can contribute to migraine headaches.  Since I have suffered from migraines for years, I quickly took measures to remove them from my diet.  So far, so good.  But, this meant that I did not enjoy any grilled hot dogs over the summer.

The other day I found these hot dogs from Applegate Farms.

Yaay! I had a grilled hot dog the other night.  It felt like summer...

Summertime eats also include a steak kabob (on the grill) with some roasted sweet potatoes.  Yum!

I love summer food... I'm so glad that Ken likes to grill year-round!

Shoes

I'm also getting ready to run my third half marathon of the summer.  I'll be running the half at the Erie Marathon on Sunday.  To be honest, I haven't been terribly excited about running lately.  It's possible that 3 half marathons in 3 months was a little much.

So, I bought myself a new pair of running shoes in the hopes of finding my mojo.

They're snazzy aren't they?  
And so far they've been very helpful in motivating me to get my butt moving.
There are very few problems that a new pair of shoes can't fix.

My little running partner has been joining me on the last couple of miles of my runs this summer.  
A tired dog is a good dog.


And tell me... what do you do when your motivation gets low?
(because I really can't buy shoes all the time)
