I can't believe the weekend is nearly over! How did that happen?
I've always been fairly good at taking tests. I know, I know, it's a strange skill but there it is. I am an excellent guesser. Here's the trick... be very cautious of the words "never" and "always". There are very few absolutes in the world, so when you see something phrased with those words, think very carefully before you answer.
So, when I read Facebook posts from fitness buffs loudly proclaiming, "I NEVER eat that" or "I would NEVER give my kids that crap food." or "I ALWAYS eat clean." I stop and consider.
Really? Your family NEVER strays from your clean eating plan?
I find that hard to believe.
And if I'm wrong, if you never stray, I have to wonder about that decision too.
As a mom, I try to do a good job. I try to offer my kids healthy foods on a very regular basis. I pack their lunches and I'm sure to include a piece of fruit or a veggie every day.
But today, we grabbed McDonald's after church and I won't be sad or guilty about it.
I just don't believe that one fast food meal, in the midst of an otherwise healthy diet, is going to kill me or my kids. We don't eat it every day or even every week. So, why should I fret over that one meal?
Now that I'm getting my fitness back on track after being ill, I thought I would get back to planning meals. This afternoon I sat down with my cookbooks and tried to make a plan that was interesting enough to actually stick with.
Here it is...
I'm going to do my best to stick with this plan because all of these foods look delicious and healthy to me. But, if for some reason I stray from the plan I'll just get back on track with my next meal.
Do you ALWAYS stick with your plan?
Are you suspicious of people who say that they NEVER stray from their plan?
