Finishing and Starting

I've been trying to write this post for about 30 minutes now.  Why the delay?
Ruger wants to have another one of these afternoons.
Only he feels like he needs to do his sleeping (and farting) on my lap.
The same lap where the laptop computer is currently sitting.

We've done some negotiating and he has stopped tossing his paws onto the keys.

He's sleeping and my arms are stretched out to the keyboard.  My high school typing teacher would be disgusted by my hand position but hey, we never covered typing with a dog on your lap.

Last night was New Year's Eve.  Things were pretty rockin' over here.
Honestly, he sleeps on people like it's his job.

We snuggled on the couches and watched plenty of Storage Wars, Pawn Stars & Cake Boss.

I knitted my third annual New Year's Eve scarf.

I learned to knit three years ago and it was a pure coincidence that I finished my first scarf on New Year's Eve.  Then last year, I decided to start and finish an entire scarf before the stroke of midnight.

Yesterday I decided to do it again.

The realization hit me around 2:00 PM that I didn't have a scarf pattern chosen.
I flipped through a new-ish magazine and chose something easy & pretty.
Then I rummaged through my stash and found the perfect yarn.

I love finishing a project just as the year ends.  It's very satisfying and symbolic for me.

This scarf will be gifted to a dear friend.  I pray that it brings her some joy as she begins 2013.

I promised that I'd share my goals for 2013 with you.

I've been writing them down in a lovely pink moleskin notebook.
I intend to carry it in my purse as a reminder of all the things I should be doing
when I'm watching a Storage Wars marathon.

First, I have committed to 13 Races in 2013.
I started today with a virtual race called the Resolution Run.  I did it on my snowshoes!

It's part of the 5 by 5th Virtual Race Series.

That was sort of the beginning of one of my other goals.
I want to explore many different pathways to fitness in 2013.

I love running, but I want to try other activities.

That's why I signed up for Tina Reale's Best Body Bootcamp.  It's an 8-week program that begins January 7th.  I can't wait to see the workouts and of course, I'll let you know how it goes.

I also have a few blog-related goals.
I'd like to connect with more readers in a way that is meaningful and I'm committed to bringing you information and inspiration.  One specific goal is to give you more silly videos.

I have a few family-related goals, but I think I'll keep those to myself for now.  I can sum them up by saying that I am always intent on being a better mom and being present for these two beautiful girls.

I finished 2012 with them and I'm glad.

I'm looking forward to what 2013 might have in store for our family.

Happy New Year!
