WIAW- South Beach style

Hi friends! It's Wednesday... you know how I love Wednesday.

It's the day I get to talk all about food and then click around to other blogs and look at food.
Cool huh?

If you'd like to join me, click on this button and find all kinds of goodies over at Peas & Crayons.

Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway for Kristen K. Brown's book "The Happy Hour Effect" here, here or here.  I like to give you a lot of choices.

Ok, moving on with the food!

Although I try to eat well and feed my family well all the time,
lately my eating has just felt a little unhinged.

Katie & Mandy have been in dress rehearsals for "The Little Mermaid Jr." at the Erie Playhouse so we've been very busy. Dinners have been late in the evening and sort of scattered.

So, this Monday I decided to take control of my eating and start at
Phase One of the South Beach Diet.

I used the Atkins Diet to lose weight after Mandy was born and had a lot of success. I felt very good when I was eating a diet that was heavy on the veggies & lean protein.

My sis-in-law and BRF Kristina has had the same sort of success with South Beach. Since they are similar, we decided to do South Beach together. I can't really explain how helpful it is it diet with a friend.  We support each other and share recipes. I am confident that we can succeed together.

So, I'm telling you all my plan for the same reason. I'm putting my plan out there so that I'll feel obligated to report back on my success. Or, y'know, lack of success.

So, this week I'm eating bacon, eggs & tomatoes for breakfast.

I have to take a little break from my favorite smoothie because fruit is not allowed on Phase One.
I will just look forward to Phase Two when fruit returns. Yay!

Lunch will be various protein & veggies. My current favorite is bell pepper slices and tuna.

Dinner is also protein and veggies so I'll be searching for new veggie recipes so that I don't get bored.

I'm sure this dinner will be making frequent appearances at my table.

Many people have told me that they would not be able to stick to such a restrictive diet.

Frankly, I've done the first phase of Atkins before and I find it very cleansing. I just feel as if I have detoxes from all of the added sugar that appears in my diet.
Using a low carb plan sort of forces me to eat unprocessed foods.

In other news, Hurricane Sandy is responsible for postponing trick-or-treating in my neighborhood.  This is so silly, because all we really got was rain.

Keep in mind, I live in an area of the country that prides itself on powering through bad weather.  My kiddos are pretty mad.  Trick-or-treating has been postponed to Saturday and they will be doing the show.  I think we're going to crash someone else's trick-or-treating.

Happy Halloween everyone!
