I Quit LiveFit & I Heart Halos

I quit.  There- I said it.  Despite the fact that I told you I wasn't going to, I am quitting Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer.
I want to say right up front that I think it's a great program.  I think that if a person were to follow the whole program from beginning to end, he or she would see great results.  I just can't do it.

The workouts in Phase 3 are long.  They involve plyo moves and lifting.  Supersets and Triple Sets.  Each one was taking me at least 45 minutes- most were longer.  And by the time I was done, I just didn't have the energy left for running.  Not running?  That's not an option for me.  I'm already registered for two half marathons.  I meet my BRF every Saturday morning for a nice long talk run.

Also, there are six workouts per week.  Only one rest day from these long, intense workouts.  Now, I don't mind working out six days per week.  I generally do that anyway.
What I don't like is not having time for other workouts like yoga & pilates.
I miss the variety that those things brought to my fitness life.

Am I going to quit lifting weights? No way!  I really like weight lifting and I've seen the results of the work.  (have I shown any of you my biceps lately? I'm so proud of them)

In fact, I downloaded a few new workouts from BodyBuilding.com just last night.
Weights will just be one part of my fitness life- not all of it.

That's all I have to say about that.

On another topic, the nice people at Halo Headbands sent us some headbands to try out!

We were excited by the colors & variety of styles.
We got 2 headbands
- they have the special strip inside for soaking up sweat-
and 4 hairbands. (these are just a few)

My BRF, Kristina tested the headband for us since I was informed that I look like a dork with it on.  Apparently, my little fashionistas think that my short hair is not friendly with the headbands.  The words "Karate Kid" were mentioned. pfft.

Of course, Kristina looks adorable in it.

Isn't she a good sport? We stopped at my house mid-run and I made her do a photo shoot.

Kristina is plagued with headband issues when we run.  She always has to take hers off and re-adjust it.  Not so with the Halo.  It stays in place- as advertised- and does a good job of keeping the sweat out of her eyes.  She wears it all the time now.

Fun fact- after this run Kristina went home and put the Halo on the coffee table.  Her puggle, Frankie, loves all things stinky & sweaty so she snagged the Halo pretty quick.  By the time Kristina got it back it had been thoroughly chomped on, but it shows no signs of damage.  Now, I don't know if the folks at Halo know about this chomp-proof feature, but I think it's worth mentioning.

Katie wore the other headband to our annual 4th of July parade.
It was REALLY hot that day.
Katie was pleased with the way the headband kept the sweat and her hair out of her eyes.

Mandy wore the same one when she did her own workout outside the other day.  She says she ran around the house 7 times, did 10 jumping jacks and then turned herself upside down on the swing set.  I haven't tried it yet, but it seemed like she was pretty sweaty.
(the tired face might be just a little exaggerated)
After all that, she got in the pool.

Both of the girls are wearing their hairbands in this video that we did for the Tuesday Trainer.

Mandy's hair is pretty thin and headbands are generally problematic for her.
She once had to chase me down at a 5K starting line just to fix her headband for her.

But the halo hairbands have a soft liner that hold the hairband in place.
No problems here.

To sum up, we really like the Halos and we'll most likely order more.  They come in a variety of colors. They get a big thumbs up from us!

The girls think that if I want to enjoy the sweat band in the Halos I'm going to have to order a hat.
I think they might be right.

Have you tried any particular weight-training programs?
What's your preferred method of keeping sweat out of your eyeballs?
