The Day After & Thursday Playlist

I love the morning after a holiday.

Everyone is lazy & tired from having too much fun.

I am typically an early riser and I honestly cherish that quiet hour before the rest of the house wakes.  I started washing towels- an endless task at this time of year, cleaned up the backyard, and spent some time in my garden.

These will be in my salad soon.

I'm not sure what today holds and that's just fine.  I know I'm going to run when I finish this post and maybe I'll find time to swim with Katie & Mandy.  We'll probably finish off the leftovers from yesterday's picnic just so we can feel like the party continues.

For today, I'm join Pavement Runner's party!  Thursday is Playlist day over there and today's theme is (appropriately) Red, White & Blue.  Here are my picks.  When you're done here, head on over to Pavement Runner's blog and see what everyone else picked.

Something Old
Song: Surfin' USA
Artist: The Beach Boys
Side Note: I love the Beach Boys.  I grew up listening to my Dad's copy of Little Deuce Coupe on vinyl.  It's no accident that my name is Rhonda.  I'm not named after anyone in the family.
And I've never been surfing, but this song just makes me think I should.
Quotable: Everybody's gone surfin'. Surfin' USA.

Something New
Song: All-American Girl
Artist: Carrie Underwood
Side Note:  Ok, I know it's not as new as Pavement Runner would like it to be, but you guys will forgive me right?  It's the 4th of July playlist and I'm an All-American Girl.
Quotable: And his heart belongs to that sweet little, beautiful, wonderful, perfect All American Girl

Something to Consider
Song: The Heart of Rock and Roll
Artist: Huey Lewis and the News
Side Note:  I saw Huey & his crew in concert in the summer of 1989. (Yes, I realize how I have just dated myself)  They were so great.  His voice is forever connected with summertime to me. I realize that for a time Huey was pretty mainstream, but I put him here just in case you've forgotten him. Enjoy!
Quotable: They say the Heart of Rock and Roll is still beatin'
and from what I've seen I believe 'em.

And just for fun I'll give you another Beach Boys song since I alluded to it above.  Thanks guys, for inspiring my name. :)

Tell me, what picnic food are you still working on today?
