Things I've learned while running with kids

I'm determined to teach my daughters to run and inspire them to love running.  But, while I'm at it they continue to teach me things.  Here's what I've learned so far:

1. Pace is relative. You can be going along just fine, but if your friend passes you it's time to pick it up.  Then pass your friend and go right back to your happy pace.

2.  Never enter a race with no t-shirt.  This is a hard and fast rule among my little runners.  They don't even care if the shirt comes in a size that is appropriate for them.  They need to say, "been there, done that, got the t-shirt."

3.  Singing and running are totally compatible activities.

4.  If it's time to run and you're in the middle of building a lego castle, don't sweat it. Run later.

5.  Lift up your arms and air out your pits on the downhills. Pay no attention to drivers who look at you funny.

What have you learned from your little runners?
