Katie & I were running. As we lined up at the start, Katie was still worried. She looked up at me with her huge brown eyes and asked, "What if I can't do it?". I assured her that I was already proud of her for all the training she had done. We'd stay together and cross the finish line one way or another.
I'm so happy for Katie today. She ran the entire 3.1 miles. She didn't walk, she didn't stop along the route and she didn't complain. We talked about books, friends at school, music... anything but running. Once, she threatened to throw up her Fruity Pebbles but that was a false alarm.
I love the way running can bring out the kid in us regardless of our actual age!

Race photos are here. (No, none of us are in the pictures. But, maybe you are!)
I didn't get any pictures this year- I didn't want to bring the camera out in the rain. But, here's one that I cherish from last year just for fun.
Do you remember your first race?
