Couch to 5K running plan from www.coolrunning.com. I wasn't sure how this plan would work for a 10 year old, but printed it anyway. We looked it over together and decided that the first 3 weeks looked reasonable. Katie was alarmed when she looked down the list and saw that eventually she was expected to run 20 continuous minutes, but I encouraged her not to worry about that just now. We would take this plan one run at a time.

I tend to operate more like Katie where runs are concerned. I pick out an upcoming race and then map out a plan that will get me to the starting line (& hopefully the finish!). Next weekend I'm running a half marathon. After that I'd like to learn from Mandy and simply run for the fun of it. Maybe I'll feel like an 8-year-old again... who knows?
Which kind of runner are you? Which category does your kid fall into?
Have you ever tried the other way?
